Promises to request $2.6 billion for global equality programs.
President Biden released a statement on International Women’s Day, in which he promised to request $2.6 billion for foreign assistance programs in the 2023 fiscal budget. This is double the amount requested for such programs in 2021, and if approved, will help assist other countries in their efforts to promote women’s rights, healthcare, and education to raise the global standard for gender equality to a higher level.
“Ensuring that every woman and girl has that chance isn’t just the right thing to do — it’s also a strategic imperative that advances the prosperity, stability, and security of our nation and the world,” President Biden stated. “Yet too often, in too many places, women and girls face obstacles that limit their possibilities and undermine their participation in economic, political, and social life.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president to look to the Lord for direction regarding equity and preventing discrimination.
- For wisdom for U.S. governing officials as taxpayer dollars are sent overseas.
- For members of Congress as they fund the federal government.
